In the Old Testament too, this spiritual “father and son” relationship is made quite clear to any sincere seeker of the Truth: “HAVE WE NOT ALL ONE FATHER? HATH NOT GOD CREATED US?” - (MALACHI 2:10) Why is “son of God” interpreted literally for Jesus (pbuh), yet figuratively in the case of Prophet David (pbuh), where God addresses him as follows: “THOU ART MY SON, THIS DAY HAVE I BEGOTTEN THEE.” – (PSALMS 2:7)

Why does the Church make such a deliberate distinction between Jesus (pbuh) and the other Prophets? The answer is that the Church is following Paul’s opinion, and is therefore determined to ascribe Divinity to Jesus, even though there is in the Bible, not a single categorical statement of Jesus where he says, “I am God” or “Worship me”! In contrast, he does refer to himself as a Prophet and Messiah. We conclude with a verse of the Holy Qur’an, God’s last Book of Guidance to mankind: “IT IS NOT BEFITTING FOR ALMIGHTY GOD THAT HE SHOULD BEGET A SON. GLORY BE TO HIM! WHEN HE DETERMINES A MATTER, HE ONLY SAYS TO IT ‘BE’ AND IT IS!” – (QUR’AN 19:35)
